The early detection of dental decay, using dental lasers. Decay detection includes several observation techniques including a complete set of dental x-rays, laser detection of decay following detailed spray style cleaning, intraoral photography, magnification and transillumination. Micro cleaning and laser detection of decay are hallmarks of early diagnosis of decay, when treatment is more succesful, more comfortable, more economical. No one so far has been able to feel the laser at all.

Early detection of dental problems is a key to comfort, economy, health and beauty. For your well being, I want you to know that screening for oral cancer is crucial, even though early decay detecton is very important to you our patient. Please remember to ask your doctor during the cleaning and exam to perform oral cancer screening. Especially point out any bumps or sores that have been in or around your mouth for more than 2 weeks. Also any dark spots or moles or anything "extra" that you notice. Finding dental decay early is an art and a science and is important for your comfort and keeping your teeth well. Finding oral cancer early is a life saving event. Get an oral cancer screening done every three months during your doctor performed cleaning, or doctor performed exam, several time a year. Right now oral cancer kills about one person an hour in the U.S... most of these cancers were very treatable at an early stage, but become grim if left unchecked. Oral cancer kills 3 times as many people now as does cervical cancer. Get checked often 3 to 4 times a year, and check yourself once a month at least. |
